Golden Jubilee in Zimbabwe

Golden Jubilee celebrations were held for Sister Hildegardis Chimhanda and Sister Magna Maminimini, the first African members of the Congregation of Jesus in the Zimbabwe-Mozambique Region.

The Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Robert Ndlovu, with Fr Mukwewa and Fr Daka concelebrating, inspired all in attendance. In his homily, the Archbishop encouraged the sisters to embrace St. Paul’s call to leave behind all distractions and to focus on their eternal crown. He emphasized the importance of remaining connected with the people of God, who continually seek pastoral care, reminding the sisters of their ongoing pilgrimage.

He voiced concern about the gradual decline in community life quality, urging everyone to cherish fraternal communion as pilgrims of hope. Our jubilarians used the symbol of a candle to express how God has illuminated their paths over the past 50 years, holding fast to the hope that His light will continue to shine upon them.

The Mass was vibrant, animated by the sisters, with heartfelt support from relatives and friends of Mary Ward who joined in the joyful celebration. The day concluded with a delightful Golden Jubilee meal.
